Stopping of Monday volunteer days, progress on the building, apple/cob/pizza days coming up, dishes left from the wedding, and Anne’s beautiful pictures…
We’ve had a very productive few weeks here at Velwell Orchard, thanks to our hard-working WWOOFer Ben, and to Tim and Anthony from Pentiddy, and also to Class Ten from the Steiner School, all of whom have put in some great work on the building. We also had a lovely afternoon on Saturday, pressing apples, many of which came from Nick and Lesley down at Lower Velwell. Thanks to all for that! We followed the pressing with pizza from the cob oven and washed it down with Keveral Farm cider.
The next two saturday afternoons (23rd and 30th September) will again be cobbing and apple pressing from 2pm followed by pizza from 6pm. Please let us know if you’re coming and bring wellies, apples, empty bottles and empty tummies!
From now on until the Spring we’ll only be doing thursdays as volunteer days, the rest of our time will be dedicated to building.
We still have LOADS of crockery left over from the wedding, please come and claim them, we will soon have to find them new homes in charity shops.
And finally… Anne Gray-Thompson, who along with husband Robert, has been volunteering regularly here for many years, gave us a beautifully decorated book of poems about Velwell Orchard for our wedding. We wanted to share some of the illustrations with you.
