We’ve had a few glorious glimpses of spring this week at Velwell Orchard. The crocuses and snowdrops are fully out beneath the walnut tree and the daffodils are starting to join them. When the sun comes out it’s truly stunning.
Now there is loads to do all of a sudden, finishing off winter jobs, and preparing the beds for sowing and planting.
Here are a few dates to add to your diary:
1. Visit by Lynne of the Devon Wildlife Trust. She’ll be here from 11am to give us some advice on attracting wildlife. 2nd of March.
2. Spring feast! We’ll be getting the pizza oven fired up for lunch at 1pm. Please bring toppings. Let us know if you’re coming and please share transport. 18th of March.
3. Tree planting at Oakley Dell. Contact Nick Read for further details. 28th and 29th of March.
4.Spring Gathering of the Local Biodynamic Group including preparation making, cowhorn manure stirring and the AGM. 9th of April.
More details will follow about these events. There are also upcoming hedgelaying, turf hedging and stone facing courses with the Devon Rural Skills Trust (click here), as well as Aikido Courses (click here).
