The days are still getting shorter until the 21st on Monday week. We’ll light a fire at lunch time that day and have some soup and hot mulled juice and enjoy the warmth. Please come and join us.
After lunch it would be nice to put our heads together and look back on the year gone by and ahead to next year and to hear from each of you about what you’d like to see more/less of.
It’s very wet here at the moment and parking cars is not easy unless they’re equipped with four wheel drive, a winch, and massive knobbly tires.
I’d be really grateful if you would respect that I don’t celebrate Christmas so please no cards or presents. Contrary to unpopular belief I’m not a Scrooge, it’s just that I’m not a Christian, and I never have seen the point of spending money you don’t have on buying things that people don’t want, let alone need, when all around the world there are people starving to death for the want of a few quid.
I am always acutely aware that Velwell Orchard completely relies on generosity so if you have an overflow on that front please feel free to make a donation using our new donate page. I’m sure there are also many charities that would benefit from donations at this time of year.
After the 21st I’m planning to spend a full two weeks here at Velwell Orchard catching up on jobs, resting my body a bit, and planning next year’s crops and projects. So if you’d like to suggest anything, come along on the 21st.
As is traditional at this time of year, I’ll be putting together our annual newsletter and so this is a request for you to send in anything from photos, articles, poems, thoughts, feelings, experiences; anything that could be included in a newsletter. Copy deadline is New Year’s Eve.
